The Lorax by Dr. Seuss
Did I mention I am an aunt? I love my nieces and nephews a whole bunch. For Christmas this year, Ben and I really wanted to give them cool presents that they would love and maybe be something they would keep for a bit. One of the presents we decided to buy for them was The Lorax by Dr. Seuss. Not only is it a wonderful story but it will hopefully encourage them to care about our planet.

The Lorax is a really cute book that teaches children about environmental responsibility. The Lorax is the story of the Once-ler who destroys all of the Truffula trees to build a factory ignoring the warnings of the Lorax. Dr. Seuss does a great job of showing how cutting down the Truffula trees doesn’t just affect the trees.

These are the beautiful Truffula trees that the Lorax tries to protect.

"I am the Lorax. I speak for the trees. I speak for the trees, for the trees have no tongues..."
I know this sounds like a downer, but it is not! It has a happy ending.

I love that Dr. Seuss!
The book is printed on recycled paper and there is even a fun website that gives children little tips on living green! For more information check out The Lorax Project.
We also got them

OMG. My favorite childhood book! I am tearing up just thinking about my dad reading it to me again and again.

What a great suggestion!!! I’m going to look into getting it for my nieces and nephew, too! That’s what my brother in law does for a living… He’s the director of Urban Ecological Development at Butler University. So he and my sis will love it, too! Thanks, Selena!
