Recently my husband allowed me to scrap all the stickers off this old table he has had forever.  I'm not sure why guys like to completely cover items with stickers. I used an electric drill to attach the mounting plates.  I don't think that power tools like me. We love our little yellow table.  It is amazing how much cuter this table is with legs and a couple coats of...

Yesterday I ate lunch with Cristina.  She is a friend from high school who recently moved to Dallas, Texas.  We haven't seen each other as often as we would like but she is one of my favorite people in the world.  So she asked me a few of those normal questions you ask people you haven't seen in a while:  “How are you?”  “How is married life?”  “What's new in your life?”  I am so used to getting those questions from random people from my past that I run into at Wal-Mart or one of the downtown arts festivals, I...

I knew that I didn't want my wedding invitations to be boring or traditional and I wanted them to be as DIY as possible.   I began to get discouraged since all of the invitations I liked didn't at all fit into my budget, but then our friend and graphic designer, Kirby Doss saved the day.  He took my handwriting and ideas and made our invitations oh so lovely. With our wedding invitations we sent a RSVP postcard (which used less paper than a traditional RSVP card with an...

This weekend I was feeling kind of crafty and decided to decoupage some electrical outlet covers after seeing this tutorial on Design Sponge. What you need: Fun Patterned Paper (I used Martha Stewart craft paper on the middle one) Screwdriver (To take off the outlet cover) Mod Podge Paint brush or sponge applicator to apply the Mod Podge These are so easy to make.  All you do is find what paper you want, place the paper right side down and apply the Mod Podge to the paper.  Place the outlet cover on the paper and let it dry.  Once it is dry...

Your pipes will freeze.

This morning I woke up to find my hot water not working, my yard flooded and water shooting up out of the pipes outside of my house.  Ironically enough my husband left at 6 a.m. earlier this morning to catch a plane to Los Angeles, California.  Before he left, he wrote down the plumber's name and number just in case I needed it. Avoid a not fun Saturday by letting your hot and cold water run from your faucets and showers at night when the temperatures drop below...

On December 17th a study released in the journal Science revealed that a person's view of their own happiness closely correlates to studies objectively measuring each states' quality of life based on factors such as temperature, sunshine, crime, cost of living, etc.  Read the whole article here. With that being said, it makes me happy to report that Mississippi has ranked in the top ten for something other than childhood obesity or teen pregnancy.  I find it funny that New York is last.  I also find it interesting...

Happy New Year! My mother always told us that it is good luck to eat black eyed peas on New Year's Day.  Let's hope that is true.  It should also be good luck that last night was a Blue Moon and my first New Year's Eve as a married woman! According to Wikipedia (Side note:  I know that referring to Wikipedia is the equivalent to saying according to my neighbor Bob, but for whatever reason I still frequent that site), other New Year's traditions include: The dropping of...
