DIY Outlet Covers

This weekend I was feeling kind of crafty and decided to decoupage some electrical outlet covers after seeing this tutorial on Design Sponge.

What you need:

  • Fun Patterned Paper (I used Martha Stewart craft paper on the middle one)
  • Screwdriver (To take off the outlet cover)
  • Mod Podge
  • Paint brush or sponge applicator to apply the Mod Podge

Be prepared to get Mod Podge all over your hands.

These are so easy to make.  All you do is find what paper you want, place the paper right side down and apply the Mod Podge to the paper.  Place the outlet cover on the paper and let it dry.  Once it is dry flip it over and Mod Podge the front of the outlet cover.  I put a couple of coats on mine.  Next I poked holes through the paper (where the cord plugs into the wall) and cut off the excess.  The final step is to screw them back on.

This cute outlet cover makes you almost not notice the outlet is upside down.

If you don’t feel like spending money but have a color printer, make your own patterned paper at Bg Patterns for free.

Thanks Kristen and they are really easy. I love easy crafts because I still get that “yes I finished something” feeling.
