DIY Product Packaging & Branding
The Cotton District Arts Festival is only 4 days away! I have been quite busy trying to finish up my notebooks, my display and my packaging. I recently ordered new rubber stamps with my brand name and Etsy address on them for my packaging and to stamp inside my notebooks.
So let me know what you think. Any feedback would be greatly...
Before & After: DIY Vintage Painting Headboard
Right after we first moved into our house, our yard flooded into our neighbor's yard and garage. Ben went over to introduce himself, help clean up and apologize. He returned with this painting. He said that she asked him if he liked it and mostly to be polite, he said yes. She went on to tell him that her daughter in law painted it and she hated it but had kept it up for years. We decided that we couldn't get rid of it. A year later I had an idea. Ben and...

Roses, Roses, Roses!
I really love that my roses are blooming. They are so pretty and smell so nice. And to think, I thought they were dying. I really need to learn patience in general, but especially in regards to...
Brunch in Bed is the best!
I had a fun long weekend. Yesterday morning my husband went to City Bagel with our house guests and when they returned he brought me my brunch in bed. My lazy sunday consisted of a wonderful brunch, a little Google reader catch up, a mini nap in my hammock and making a kite with Ben. I couldn't have asked for a better day or a better husband.
Ben is pretty great and he understands my need for City Bagel after a long night. It's a fact, City Bagel...Fruitgasm!
This weekend I had many friends in town. It was such a beautiful weekend. The weather was nice and it was hot enough to enjoy strapless sun dresses, refreshing berry passionfruit cocktails and Fruitgasm! Please ignore my horrible abbreviation of tablespoon. Obviously the cocktails were enjoyed first. Thanks for the recipe Katie...
Preparing for the Cotton District Arts Festival
With the Cotton District Arts Festival right around the corner on April 23rd, I have been quite busy. Preparing for an arts festival is a lot of work. Although I started preparing earlier than I did for the Prairie Arts Festival, I still feel like I have so much to do.
Here are a couple of things I have been working on lately:
Cotton District Arts Festival 2011
Friday I found out that my application for this year's Cotton District Arts Festival in Starkville, Mississippi was accepted! Nikki Ballard and I will being sharing a booth. Stop by and see us on April 23rd, 2011. The Cotton District Arts Festival is one of my favorite things about Starkville and this year will be our first time to be vendors! I always have such a great time at the CDAF and I am sure this year will not be an exception. Check out our stuff on Etsy...
Catfish Alley, Spring 2011 Issue
I am so incredibly happy to announce that my notebooks are in a magazine!!! Not just any magazine but the premiere issue of Catfish Alley based in Columbus, Mississippi. It is now available on local news stands and available at The Book Mart and Barnes & Nobles here in Starkville. Everyone should run out and buy this issue in support of this wonderful new local magazine. I really can't express how awesome it feels to see a picture of my little notebooks in an actual magazine with my name and everything!!!
Bourre!
Lately my most favorite Friday or Saturday night activity is getting together with my close friends and playing bourre. I don't know if it is the gambling, the drinking that accompanies the gambling, or simply that I am spending time with my good friends, but I love it. Bourre is not well known and therefore the people who play bourre are part of an elite group of card players. It is a Cajun card game that originated in the Acadia region of Louisiana. My friends and I were taught how to play bourre by my friend Katie Doughty's family...
