DIY Mother’s Day Gift

This year I made my mom this little decorative tray for her bedside table or bathroom. The tray I choose to use was already painted gold. I used paint markers and acrylic paint to paint the flowers and initials. Once everything was dry I covered it in varnish. It took a couple of days to finish because some of the paint markers were oil based and took longer to dry. But overall it was pretty easy to make and my mom loved it.

I heart these apps!
I love finding new iphone applications that make my life easier or improve my life in some little way. Here are a couple that I am into right now: 1. Fooducate I love this app because you can scan barcodes at home or at the grocery store and it tells you all about your item. It grades the item, tells you about harmful ingredients and even offers alternatives. I have pretty much scanned everything at my house with a barcode. It’s unreal to me that Osama Bin Laden is dead.
I feel a bit of cognitive dissonance about Osama Bin Laden's death. It's weird to me that people are celebrating death. Seeing his picture on every news channel only makes me think about 911, our troops and the wars that have been a part of our lives for the last ten years or so and I don't feel like celebrating. Honestly, I just hope that his death will be the catalyst that brings the rest of our troops home. Also I am very proud of our President and the decisions he has had to make recently. I can't imagine how hard it is...

Cotton District Arts Festival 2011
This past Saturday, Nikki Ballard and I had a booth at the Cotton District Arts Festival. This was our first year to have a booth and we had a blast. It was a pretty day, everyone was nice and complimentary and we sold more than we did at the Prairie Arts Festival. Overall it went really well and I am very proud of us. Our booth was really cute but unfortunately all of the photos I took were horrible. I am so thankful that Ben snapped a few here and there.
Easter Weekend
Yesterday, Ben and I got together with some close friends to grill out. We also dyed and decorated Easter eggs. It was pretty laid back and nice.
