DIY Easy Children’s Gift Idea

I am not sure if I have ever mentioned it before but I have 7 nieces and nephews, 6 of which are under the age of 6. So when Christmas time comes around I have to be creative in order to stay within my overall Christmas budget. This year staying within my budget is especially important since we have our own little one on the way. With the exception of my niece Kaitlyn who is a bit older than the others, I decided to get everyone else the same thing this year and I have a feeling they will love their present. In case you are struggling with a similar issue, I decided to share my idea with you.

Supplies Needed for 6 Gift bags:

Cute paper gift bags (I bought the Snowman bags above for .25 each at Kroger)
Small plastic bags for your goodies
Cute ribbon for the bag ties
1 pack of Christmas Oreos (Each pack contains 30 cookies which equals 5 cookies per child)
6 candy cane shaped containers filled with Christmas M & Ms (I think they were about a $1 each)
2 packs of Fruit Roll Ups (Each pack contain 10 roll ups which equals 3 per child with 2 left over)
2 packages of assorted colored Goldfish
1 pack of Candy Canes (Pack contains 18 canes which equals 3 per child)
1 pack of Christmas sugar cookies shaped like Christmas Trees from the bakery at Kroger (Pack contains 12 cookies which equals 2 cookies per child)

All you have to do is divide everything up and put the cookies, Goldfish and Oreos into the small plastic bags and tie with a ribbon to secure. I finished this little project in under an hour.

DIY Mother’s Day Gift

This year I made my mom this little decorative tray for her bedside table or bathroom. The tray I choose to use was already painted gold. I used paint markers and acrylic paint to paint the flowers and initials. Once everything was dry I covered it in varnish. It took a couple of days to finish because some of the paint markers were oil based and took longer to dry. But overall it was pretty easy to make and my mom loved it.

Kirby and Dawn Moved to LA

Living in a college town can be quite tiresome. Knowing that Starkville is a transitional place for most of its residents doesn’t make it easier when they leave. Two of my best friends moved to Lake Charles, LA a week ago today. Although I know it is for the best, Kirby and Dawn feel like family now and it is hard not to be sad. They are two of the most intelligent, supportive, kind people that I have ever met and I hope they know they are loved.

We miss these puppies as well.

I am an Aunt, again!

Skylar Alexa May Born 6.28.10

My younger brother Jonathan and his wife Rita just welcomed my newest niece, Skylar Alexa on 6.28.10. Look how cute she already is and she is only 3 days old!
