I’ll just pull it up, since I’m not allergic to Poison Ivy
Last Wednesday on my lunch break, Ben and I were looking at our garden's progress, when we noticed some poison ivy on the edge of our garden. I said, "I'll just pull it up since I'm not allergic to Poison Ivy." I then proceeded to pull up the vines without gloves on. Do not make my mistake! Things I have learned about Poison Ivy/Virginia Creeper: 1. Poison Ivy often grows alongside Virginia Creeper. Virginia Creeper is also poisonous. At this point, I am not even really sure which one caused my rash. 2. Just...
Vintage BBQ Tablecloth Purchase
Last weekend, my friend Nikki mentioned to me that she was planning a vintage BBQ. I got really excited and volunteered to help with favors and decor. When she left my house that night, I poured myself a glass of red wine and started cruising Ebay looking for vintage BBQ inspiration. It wasn't until I saw the package on my doorstep today, that I remembered my late night purchase of a vintage BBQ tablecloth. At least the tablecloth is pretty funny. Here are a couple of pics I snapped of it on my lunch break:
Tulips!
Filed under: Gardening, Lesson Learned, Things That Make Me Happy
My tulips are blooming! I am so excited because these tulips are the first bulbs I have ever planted. Last year I bought tulips that were about to bloom in a planter from Lowe's and re-planted them around my mailbox. They immediately fell over. Little did I know that they were not supposed to be re-planted. I tried tying their little stems to a mini metal rose trellis, similar to the way you...

Homemade Salsa
Filed under: Gardening, In the Kitchen..., Lesson Learned, Our Garden
Because of my recent tomato explosion, I feel the need to cook, bake or do something with all of the tomatoes I have on my kitchen table. So Ben and I made salsa and also a tomato pie for True Blood Sunday. I wasn't really happy with my tomato pie but I tried it again last night and will post about it tomorrow. I have been waiting to make my own salsa from my own tomatoes and bell peppers since we planted our...
Karen’s Botanicals Fennel Sage Toner
Anytime I have a health or beauty issue, I ask Dawn. When she told me I should be using toner, I listened and I am so happy that I did. Read my review of Karen's Botanicals Fennel Sage Toner on her blog, Turby and John. While you are there look around, I am sure you will find her blog as informative and interesting as I do.
Indie Business 2.0
I am taking an online business class and I am really stoked about it. Indie Business 2.o focuses on "Starting, Surviving and Succeeding in small business." Our class is taught by Leigh-Ann of Freckled Nest, Elsie of Red Velvet Art and Jill of Lune Vintage. In order to get to know the other students in the class, one of the students suggested in our class forum to post a 5 things list. I agree with her. 5 Things I am looking forward...
Enjoy the Process
Yesterday I ate lunch with Cristina. She is a friend from high school who recently moved to Dallas, Texas. We haven't seen each other as often as we would like but she is one of my favorite people in the world. So she asked me a few of those normal questions you ask people you haven't seen in a while: “How are you?” “How is married life?” “What's new in your life?” I am so used to getting those questions from random people from my past that I run into at Wal-Mart or one of the downtown arts festivals, I...
Your pipes will freeze.
This morning I woke up to find my hot water not working, my yard flooded and water shooting up out of the pipes outside of my house. Ironically enough my husband left at 6 a.m. earlier this morning to catch a plane to Los Angeles, California. Before he left, he wrote down the plumber's name and number just in case I needed it. Avoid a not fun Saturday by letting your hot and cold water run from your faucets and showers at night when the temperatures drop below...
