This little kitten reminds me of Olive.  I can’t decide which one I like better.  Which one do you prefer?

Last night while on my way to Old Venice, a tiny kitten ran in front of my car on Main Street.  She looked too tiny to be by herself and I was worried she would get run over, not to mention it was 100 degrees outside.  I tried for about 15 minutes to catch her but didn’t have any luck, so I enlisted the help of my friend and neighbor Anna.  We tried for another 15 minutes with no luck.  We decided to go inside and eat dinner with the hope that we could catch her later.  I ordered a salad and as soon as the waitress brought me my salad, Anna walked into the bar holding the tiny kitten.  I immediately said “check please.”  I looked at Ben and said, “we may have adopted a tiny baby kitten.”  He looked worried.

While searching for Leafsnap, I also came across the Peterson Feeder Birds of North America app.  This app is my new favorite.  The Peterson illustrations are very beautiful and the app is really fun to play around with, especially since you can listen to bird songs.  Although my dogs were really confused by all of the bird noises, Ben and I loved listening to the songs of birds that frequent our backyard.  Oh and the best part is that this app is also free!

Here are 3 simple and cute ways to gift wrap that you are welcome to steal:

1.  I used a Martha Stewart tag punch to make the tag.  The paper is actually vintage wallpaper.  The little box is from Michael’s. The doily is from Wal-Mart but you can get them anywhere really.

2.  I wrapped this up for an Etsy customer recently using brown wrapping paper.  The ribbon/bow is actually a piece of a vintage sheet that I cut up.  I love the raw messy edges of it.

3.  On this package, I used brown wrapping paper and the tag is actually a piece of craft paper.  The lace is Chantilly lace that I found on clearance at Paper Source.  This present was a bachelorette party gift (aka lingerie), so I thought the pretty lace was perfect for it.  I also thought the tag seemed symbolic of the innocence of the bride to be.  I probably think about things too much really.

I developed a love of  stamps while planning my wedding.  I was especially drawn to beautiful vintage love stamps.  I  love that the USPS (United States Postal Service) realizes that every year some lucky girl is planning her wedding and would love nothing more than to have a beautiful stamp to stick on the many wedding invitations she will be sending out.    This’s year’s love stamp is called the Garden of Love and they are oh so pretty.

The USPS started releasing Love inspired stamps in 1973.  Some are better than others.

Here are a couple that I am into right now:

1.  Fooducate

I love this app because you can scan barcodes at home or at the grocery store and it tells you all about your item.  It grades the item, tells you about harmful ingredients and even offers alternatives.  I have pretty much scanned everything at my house with a barcode.  Who would have known my Special K Chocolatey Pretzel cereal bar would get a C-. Damn you Kelloggs, I knew they were too good to be true.

2.  Camera+

This camera app is the best.  It allows you to take photos and edit them.  You can adjust, crop, flip or add effects.

3.  Pedometer

I just started using this one and I love it.  I just start it before I go walking and it gives me all of my stats including how long I have been walking, my speed and the total number of calories that I burn.

4.  Walgreens

If you are like me and take a monthly medication, this app is a life saver.  You can scan the barcode on the side of your RX bottle to refill your prescription.

5.  Words with Friends

This game is so addictive.  It allows you to play “scrabble” with your friends.  I pretty much am always playing at least 5 games at a time.  I love it.  (If you play, hit me up.  Leave a comment and I’ll email you my username.)

6.  SimplyNoise

Okay so I actually use their website and not the app, but when I found out they had an app I was thrilled.  I fall asleep (usually within 10 mins)  every night listening to SimplyNoise.   It is so soothing and I really think it helps me sleep more soundly.

Remember YM Magazine?

The Royal Wedding was so beautiful and these little royals are way too cute.

So I am kind of obsessed with the Royal Wedding.  But in my defense I have been “stalking” Prince William since about 5th grade.  It was then I realized that Princes were real and there was a very attractive young prince who was my age.  I remember seeing Prince William in YM or Seventeen magazine and thinking that it was just meant to be, that one day we would meet, fall in love, have a beautiful royal wedding and I would be a princess (Thanks Disney).

It does make me smile to know that my fairytale came true, just not for me.  I am so happy for Kate Middleton.  I love that we are the same age, that she too took out the obey part of her vows, that she did her own make-up for her big day and above all that she is a commoner.   High five Kate, way to score one for the common folk.

I decorated the yellow egg with pigtails and Ben decorated the blue egg with a headband and a mullet.

These little guys look worried.
