This month I am participating in the Instagram February Photo A Day challenge by FatMumslim and all of these photos with the exception of one were for the challenge.

1.  Day 21:  A Fave Photo of You

This photo is one of our engagement photos and I love it.  You can’t tell from the photo but the day we took these photos was like the hottest day of the year.

2.  Day 14: Heart

This Valentine was made for me by my good friend Dawn.  It was the sweetest Valentine I got this year.

3.  Day 13:  Blue

Zoe loves wearing her snuggie.  I made that up.  I love seeing Zoe wear her snuggie.

4.  This photo was not for the challenge but it is a photo of the chevron fabric I am going to use to make Liam’s crib skirt this weekend.  The fabric is from Premier Prints, which is a Mississippi based company.

5.  Day 16:  Something New

Ben got me this little stamp set from Yellow Owl Workshop as part of my Valentine’s Day present.  I love it and can’t wait to use it.

1.  I love the pegboard that Ben hung for me in our craft room.  It makes everything seem more organized.

2.  I made these little pecan pies on Thanksgiving day to take to my parent’s house.  They were so tasty.

3.  Olive and Ben have the cutest little relationship.

4.  Ben bought me this Vintage Latch Hook Rug Kit at a local thrift store and I love it.  I can’t wait to make it.

5.  The other night while reading What to Expect When You Are Expecting, I got up for some reason and June got in my place.  She really needs to know what to expect.

1.  Sometimes Olive likes to cuddle and recently she has become a fan of cuddling with my baby bump.  It is really sweet.  Sometimes she even rests her little paw on it.  I pretend she knows there is a baby in there.

2.  This past Tuesday I voted NO on Proposition 26 along with the majority of Mississippi.  I am honestly surprised and proud that we stood up as a state and voted No to such a horrible piece of legislation.  Tuesday was a good day and I am thankful.

3.  I have such a handsome husband.

4.  I heart my new Minnetonka Moccasins a whole bunch.  They are so comfy.

5.  I know this photo is kind of dark but its not hard to see how much these two love each other.

1.  Ben took this photo last Friday night at our late night/after the show get together.  I love when we bring the record player outside.  This is the Jenny and Johnny record that Ben bought me a couple of months ago for Record Store Day.

2.  Ben took Olive to her first Vet visit.  She is definitely a girl and is approximately 6-8 weeks old.  She is in good health overall but does have a tiny easy to treat parasite that she got from eating snails or tadpoles.  Olive is so street.

3.  Our garden is producing pretty tomatoes and bell peppers lately.  We also have a few tiny watermelons.  This photo was actually taken by Ben too.

4.  Last night I made little Olive a scratching post from carpet samples and fabric scraps.  Maybe she will use it!  She has started to scratch things in my house like my furniture and I think that is so rude.

5.  Ben and I made homemade salsa this week!

Ben’s Watermelon Margaritas Recipe

Ingredients for 1 batch (serves about 5-6):

• watermelon (about 1/2 of a large watermelon)
• 2 cups Tequila
• 3/4 cup Triple Sec
• 1/2 cup of Sugar
• 1/2 cup of lime juice
• a few ice cubes
  

1.   Seed your watermelon and cut  into 1 inch cubes.

2.  Next,  put them on trays and put them in the freezer for a few hours.

3.  Once your watermelon cubes are frozen, add the tequila, Triple Sec, sugar, and lime juice in a blender and fill the rest of the blender with the watermelon cubes.

4.  Add a couple of ice cubes, blend and you are ready to serve your margaritas.

I suggest you make more than one batch, because these are so good that they go fast.

1.  Ben had a gig last night at The State Theater (which is actually named something else now) in Starkville, Mississippi.  It was a good time.

2.  We harvested our first watermelon yesterday!  We have two more that are almost ready, which is also really exciting.

3.  Another pic of one of our little house geckos.  They love to hang out on this window and catch bugs that are attracted to the light.  It is a lot of fun watching them stalk and eat bugs.  No judgement please, Mississippi summers are made for lazy gecko watching.

4.  Zoe loves laying on Ben while he drives.  She was born to ride.

5.  This is my friend Gabe playing pool at Dave’s Dark Horse Tavern in Starkville, Mississippi.  My friends are into pool lately.  I love how 1970s this photo looks.

Too bad today is a work day, I’ll have to celebrate tonight.  How are you going to celebrate?

When Ben (my husband) and I first started hanging out he tried to win my heart by giving me two cds.  He gave me his band’s (Young Agent Jones) recent cd and a mixed cd.  It worked.  Also this cd introduced me to The Shins, which is now one of my favorite bands.  I’m sure my best friend Nikki got so sick of hearing these cds during our 30 minute commute to and from the W (Mississippi University for Women).

My reason for telling this uplifting story is to say that I love being married and I love my husband.  He was so wonderful to me during this whole ordeal. Ben sat beside the bathroom, he got me a wet washcloth for my forehead, made me soup twice, he laid beside me without touching me (since I was in pain), he bought me Gatorade, and brought me the heating pad.  I love Ben a whole lot.
