DIY Easy Children’s Gift Idea
I am not sure if I have ever mentioned it before but I have 7 nieces and nephews, 6 of which are under the age of 6. So when Christmas time comes around I have to be creative in order to stay within my overall Christmas budget. This year staying within my budget is especially important since we have our own little one on the way. With the exception of my niece Kaitlyn who is a bit older than the others, I decided to get everyone else the same thing this...
DIY Baby Shower Collage, Round 2
You may remember the Mod Podge collage I made for my friend Jillian's baby shower last year. Well this past weekend was her sister Christina's baby shower, so I made another collage. I used the same method as before but just changed up the design a bit since she is having a girl.
Read how I made it here. Oh and if you like the paper I used for the grass, you can make your own at Japonizer. Japonizer is a...
Easy DIY Cat Toy
I recently made Olive a really simple cat toy and she loves it. Since it is her favorite toy ever, I decided to share a tutorial with you guys. I know cats will play with almost anything, but at least this toy looks cuter than a toilet paper roll or plastic water bottle which are Olive's 2nd and 3rd favorite toys. Supplies Needed: Two Metal Book Rings Fabric scraps of all sizes 2-3 foot long piece of ribbon or string
DIY Fabric Covered Bracelet Tutorial
Recently for my friend Dawn's birthday, I made her some fabric covered bracelets. They were so easy to make and are really pretty. Supplies Needed: Pretty fabric Aleene's Fabric Fusion Glue Pen (or any type of fabric glue) bracelets clothespin I started by taping my fabric to the bracelet just in case I wanted to change the fabric later. Next I wrapped the fabric pretty tightly around the bracelet and secured it with a little fabric glue.
Before & After: Ugly Chair Cushions Recovered
Until we get a new kitchen table and chairs, we have to make do with our current ones which were given to us by our former roommates. I am glad these ugly chair cushions can be re-covered quickly and easily. Notice the gross paint drops from who knows what.
All you need is a screwdriver, a staple gun, fabric and something to help you remove the staples, like a flat head screwdriver. This is the fabric I chose. I bought it at a thrift store and at first...Baby Shower DIY Onesie Station
This past weekend, my friend Nikki co-hosted a baby shower that I attended. One of the activities, was a DIY Onesie station. The station had fabric markers, embroidery thread, needles, iron-ons and fun buttons. I love this idea so much and it was really fun. Here is the onesie I made for my friend Christy's baby. Here are some of the other onesies the shower guests made for Christy. I love the punk rock...
DIY Mother’s Day Gift
This year I made my mom this little decorative tray for her bedside table or bathroom. The tray I choose to use was already painted gold. I used paint markers and acrylic paint to paint the flowers and initials. Once everything was dry I covered it in varnish. It took a couple of days to finish because some of the paint markers were oil based and took longer to dry. But overall it was pretty easy to make and my mom loved it.
I hope...
DIY Product Packaging & Branding
The Cotton District Arts Festival is only 4 days away! I have been quite busy trying to finish up my notebooks, my display and my packaging. I recently ordered new rubber stamps with my brand name and Etsy address on them for my packaging and to stamp inside my notebooks.
So let me know what you think. Any feedback would be greatly...
Before & After: DIY Vintage Painting Headboard
Right after we first moved into our house, our yard flooded into our neighbor's yard and garage. Ben went over to introduce himself, help clean up and apologize. He returned with this painting. He said that she asked him if he liked it and mostly to be polite, he said yes. She went on to tell him that her daughter in law painted it and she hated it but had kept it up for years. We decided that we couldn't get rid of it. A year later I had an idea. Ben and...
Preparing for the Cotton District Arts Festival
With the Cotton District Arts Festival right around the corner on April 23rd, I have been quite busy. Preparing for an arts festival is a lot of work. Although I started preparing earlier than I did for the Prairie Arts Festival, I still feel like I have so much to do.
Here are a couple of things I have been working on lately:
