1.  I love the pegboard that Ben hung for me in our craft room.  It makes everything seem more organized.

2.  I made these little pecan pies on Thanksgiving day to take to my parent’s house.  They were so tasty.

3.  Olive and Ben have the cutest little relationship.

4.  Ben bought me this Vintage Latch Hook Rug Kit at a local thrift store and I love it.  I can’t wait to make it.

5.  The other night while reading What to Expect When You Are Expecting, I got up for some reason and June got in my place.  She really needs to know what to expect.

1.  It’s cotton picking time in Mississippi!  I love this time of year when the roadside fields are covered with cotton plants blooming.  Sometimes I stop and pick a few blooms.

2.  My friend Dawn made this painting of June and Zoe for us.  She is a pretty talented girl!  I can’t wait to hang a little painting of Olive right beside this one in my kitchen.

3.  Last Sunday, Ben and I hung up a white sheet in our backyard and watched old scary movies on a projector with friends.  It was my favorite night of the fall so far.  We had turkey chili dogs and even made s’mores.  It was a blast.

4.  Our garden may be done for the season but our sunflowers are in full bloom, making our backyard prettier than ever.

5.  Ben is such a talented musician and  sometimes he plays the saw.  I am quite a lucky girl.  Sorry this photo is dark, bars never have good lighting.

1. June is wearing my new slap bracelet from our friend Ed’s recent 90′s birthday party.
2. This little heart leaf is growing on a vine in our garden.
3. These funny vintage patterns were at the Salvation Army the other day.
4. Ben and I have a gecko family living on our back porch and we couldn’t be happier about it.
5. We have our first orange tomato, which means it will be red soon and the others will follow. Summer has officially started!

1.  Summertime=Hammock time

2.  June likes our new bedspread. (thrift store find!)

3.  Last weekend, Nikki gave us two records.  This one which is an actual Sun record and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs which is a Disneyland record.

4.  These little pink roses are growing on the fence in between my backyard and my neighbor Ida Mae’s back yard.  I love when her pretty flowers make their way into my yard.

5.  Wednesday night we had really bad thunderstorms and lost our electricity.  I had to read by candlelight, which wasn’t the worst thing.  This little tray sits on my bedside table.   I covered it with squares of paper that are actually the inside of envelopes and added a couple of layers of Mod Podge.

1.  I like vintage stamps a whole bunch.  I have a small collection that is leftover from my wedding invitations.

2.  June loves going outside during my lunch break.  She is such a pretty dog.

3.  This is the tray out of my sewing box in my craft room.  It is out because I re-covered a living room pillow earlier this week.

4.  I love vintage fabric.  I have a growing collection of fun vintage fabric that I have found at thrift stores over the years.

5.  A couple of weekends ago, Ben and I went to the Market Street Festival in Columbus, Mississippi to see our a couple of our friends play.  After Joe Whaley’s band was done playing we walked down to the Riverwalk and watched the Old Memphis Kings play under the old river bridge.  I love that they built a stage right under the bridge.  Notice the pretty big white dog in the far right of this picture.  That dog was so pretty and I tried so hard to get a pic of him without seeming creepy.

We hung our hammock over our little creek.  So if you fall out, you get wet.  I think it is more interesting this way.

Rainbow Falls

This past weekend (11.20.09-11.22.09), a small group of my friends and I went camping at Dismals Canyon located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in Northwest Alabama.  As a general rule I try to avoid small towns in Alabama.  I am not defending or explaining myself on this matter.  But my husband and I were invited on this particular trip and I decided what the hell a. I loved camping as a child and b. I have been to Dismals Canyon a couple of times when I was younger and I thought my husband would really enjoy seeing Dismals Canyon.  Sometimes I feel the need to prove to myself that I can do activites outside and that I’m not some freak who only likes watching Law & Order and playing on the internet.  After spending my weekend in the freezing cold, sleeping in a tent that caved in during the rain three times, I decided that I am never going camping during Winter again.

Dismals Canyon is a 85 acre National Park Service registered National Landmark which includes a 1.5 mile hiking trail.  According to the gift store attendant, Dismals Canyon is owned by a female judge and some lawyers.  He said “when the Judge says to Jump, the lawyers ask her how high.”

According to the map given to me by the gift store attendant, former Vice President Aaron Burr hid out in the cave behind Rainbow Falls for months after he killed Alexander Hamilton in a duel.  It also said that Jesse James hid out in the canyon.

June is happy about Rainbow Falls.

Don’t judge me for using a pinch collar with June.  She doesn’t quite understand “Heel” yet.  Also my husband is in a lot of these pictures because I usually have the camera on my person.
